Tonev Accused Of Racially Abusing Logan
It has emerged after the Dons' 2-1 defeat to Celtic that Tonev has apparently made a racial comment against our full back Shaleum Logan. Tonev and Logan were direct opponents on the park on Saturday afternoon and it is believed the comment was made to Shay during the time on the park.

Logan brought the issue to light to referee Bobby Madden at the time and also to his team mate and captain Mark Reynolds. The comment that was alledgedly spoken to Logan was calling him a "Black C***, if this is true Tonev, who made his first appearance for Celic could find himself in a very serious situation.

Celtic have spoken out and told how they had a word with their player discussing the allegations of which he said we not true. An investigation will undoubtedly take place to resolve the matter but just how exactly do you come to a conclusion on the issue. It is simply one man's word against another.

Logan appears to be a very respectable andhonest person to a normal fan and there is no reason what so ever to lie about such a matter.

We will keep you updated as the story progresses.

Shaughnessy Joins Bairns
As transfer deadline day is featuring moves such as Falcao to Manchester United and Welbeck to Arsenal, however the footballing world stood still as Aberdeen confirmed that full back Joe Shaughnessy will join the Bairns on loan until the beginning of January.

This is probably a positive move for Shaughnessy as he will get the much needed game time that is vital to improving as a player. He is not currently getting that at Aberdeen as he is slightly out of the fold in terms of breaking into the first team.

Hopefully Shaughnessy will be able to help Falkirk in gaining promotion to the Premiership but also he will be initially remembered by Falkirk fans as one of the players in the Dons team that demolished them in last season's league cup.

Shaughnessy's twitter profile picture was actually him slotting that goal away against Falkirk so that was quickly changed by the player.

All the best to him and hopefully he comes back an improved player.

Flood With Dons For Long Run
Some brilliant news has emerged from Pittodrie and that is that Willo Flood has agreed to renew the terms of his current contract and extend his stay at Aberdeen until the summer of 2017. This is a fantastic piece of business that McInnes has managed to mastermind again showing his shrewdness in football.

This deal could prove to be a key one for the Dons as Flood, offers not only a substantial amount of knowledge on the pitch but also off of it. Undoubtedly the Irishman has proved to be an influential player at the club since his arrival in the summer of 2013 and to get him on board for the long run can only be a bonus.

The tenacity and energy Flood exhibits in the middle of the park is something that any aspiring midfielders should look up to and take note of. We can call Flood the silent assassin of the Aberdeen side as the majority of the time his tireless work goes gliding under the radar and he very rarely seems to highly praised or pick up man of the match awards. However his efforts are just as important as Rooney's goals and Anderson's tremendous tackles. He can be seen as the engine room of the team and Willo Flood is what keeps the Dons team ticking over during a game, chasing down balls, picking passes, harassing opponents.

On that note we thank you Willo Flood, and keep up the super performances!

Wright Pledges Future To Aberdeen
Scott Wright has put pen to paper and has signed a three year contract extension which will see him at the club until the summer of 2017. The winger made his first team debut when coming on against Daugava Riga during the home leg in front of just over 14,000 Dons fans. On that experience he tweeted " WOW!! What a feeling that was!! Will be difficult to top that!!".

Wright, who is still only 16 years-old is definitely one for the future and has already impressed during the U17's Euro Championships with Scotland. Now with a three year deal under his belt he can attempt to try and wriggle his way into the first team as a regular.

It's great to see players from our youth system getting the vote of confidence from the man at the helm. Derek McInnes has certainly put his trust in young players over the last year with Jack, Low, Smith and now McManus occupying regular places in the starting eleven.

Goodie... Goodwillie Joins Dons
Aberdeen revealed this morning that David Goodwillie had joined the Dons on a one year deal that will see him at Pittodrie until the end of the 2014/15 season. Speculation over the arrival of the former Blackburn Rovers player had began to accumulate late last week and those rumours have grown until it seemed it was a done deal to bring the Stirling born boy to the Granite City, which it now is.

A good signing for Aberdeen? Or is it one that could fall flat on its face? The 25 year-old does have a bit of a reputation as a bit of a football bad-boy, however if McInnes feels that he will take with him to Aberdeen the traits he has shown over the past few years, would he really have considered the striker coming on board at Pittodrie. He does have a pockmarked history filled with controversy but this could be a new beginning for the man so as the saying goes, let bygones be bygones.

At the end of the day does his history really matter if he has turned a new page in his life and is regularly scoring goals in a red and white shirt. No, not really is the answer to that. If Aberdeen fans do not warm to him now then surely they will later,  that's only if the striker shows he has changed his ways and is willing to get his head down, work and part of something special at Aberdeen Football Club.

Goodwillie now has the chance to settle down and be taken in under the guidance of Derek McInnes and Tony Docherty and become a better player as a result. This is a brilliant opportunity for him to show what he is all about on the park, instead off of it.

If I say so myself the squad for this season is looking rather frighteningly magnificent!

Dons To Face a Daugava Riga
The draw for the Europa League 1st qualifying round was made at one today with Aberdeen being included in the draw. The result is that Aberdeen will face Latvian side Daugava Riga on the 3rd July at home and then on the 10th away in Latvia.

The Latvian outfit currently sit in 7th place after 17 games in the Latvian higher league, which contains ten teams. Now you could look at that statistic with two viewpoints, one is that they are half way through their season and will be fit, ready and raring to go against us. Or that they have won only five games out of seventeen and do not appear to be in the best of form.

Daugava Riga will have their first ever taste of European football when taking on Aberdeen as this is the first time they have qualified. On the other hand the Dons a European hardened club will travel to Daugava Riga's stadium on 10th July which holds just over 5,000 supporters.

The word "Riga" sends a shiver down any Dons fan's neck who is old enough to remember bowing out of the competition prematurely and it has to be said embarrassingly 20 years ago to Skonto Riga in the  UEFA Cup second qualifying round. Aberdeen were eliminated on goal difference following a 1-1 draw at Pittodrie and it was not a European experience to remember.

Aberdeen now, have virtually no time to prepare for the upcoming match in 10 days time but will have to be both physically and mentally ready when they host the Latvian side on the 3rd July.

If  Aberdeen do manage to progress through the initial qualifying round they will have to face Dutch side Groningen.

Zola Exits Pittodrie
Calvin Zola has had his contract terminated by the club and it would appear Derek McInnes does not suffer fools lightly. For the club this decision is probably for the better as Zola never really, apart from his name, lived up to the expectations, not only from the fans but from McInnes too.

Calvin made 13 appearances for the Dons scoring only 3 goals, which was a feeble effort at his promised 18 or so goals he promised when he joined from Burton Albion at the start of last season. This stat alone simply proves that the striker was not good enough and if it wasn't for the depth of our squad we would have struggled to find the net last year.  It is probably for the best that we parted company with Zola for him and the club as he will not get a game with Rooney now at the club who offers a greater attacking threat.

Despite his lack of goal scoring prowess we wish Zola all the best for his future career.

Fixtures Announced
The fixtures for the 2014/15 season were released this morning and what a cracker of a game the Dons will kick off with. The Dons will host New Firm rivals Dundee United at Pittodrie on the 9th of August, the date of the opening games of the season. That is bound to be a sell out crowd as not only the fabulous feeling of success will bring the supporters back the chance of getting one over Dundee United on the opening day will entice fans.

That game versus United is followed by a visit to Ruby Park to take on Kilmarnock and then back up the road in the granite city to play St Mirren the following week on August 16th.

Aberdeen Reveal Simple But Smart Strip For 2014-15 Season
This morning Aberdeen revealed their strip for next season and the sponsor that will be accompanying it. The 2014-15 season kit is simple but smart with the badge transforming back into the retro badge of  minus the two stars. Certainly the white has been toned down in comparison to last year with the collar area now predominantly red. In my own opinion it is a basic design yet it is still unmistakably Aberdeen.

See the new strip here - http://www.afc.co.uk/articles/20140602/dons-new-partnership-launched_2212158_3875431

Also Aberdeen revealed that Saltire Energy will replace Team Recruitment as the clubs new sponsor for next season and for the foreseeable future. The Saltire Energy group have been involved with AFC for a number of years now in reference to the company supporting the youth teams in the Aberdeen youth set up. Saltire Energy group are currently a leading supplier of state of the art equipment to the oil and gas industry around the world. The deal between Saltire energy and Aberdeen is reportedly to be worth a seven figure sum. Now it's all about waiting to see the Dons in action in their new strip!

Brown and Taylor On Board At Pittodrie
It came as a big surprise to every Dons fan when the news filtered through that McInnes had bagged another two players, first of all due to the facts nobody really knew who they were and secondly because there had been no speculation of dipping into the market down south for summer recruitment. The two new faces are gaolkeeper Scott Brown from Cheltenham Town and defender Ash Taylor from Tranmere Rovers.

Both players turned down new deals at their respective clubs to join Aberdeen, which must not only say something for the club but the manager, the players, the brand of football and Aberdeen Football Club as a whole. There is something quite special being built around Pittodrie at the moment and that is evident as players are eager to join us. Both Brown and Taylor have signed pre-contracts with the Dons and will officially become Dons players around the same time as Logan at the start of July, in time for our Europa League tie. Getting the players in early which McInnes is doing is essential as it gives the new boys time to settle in, get to grips with the club, their new colleagues and the city itself as for the forseeable future this is their new home.

As said before not much is really known about the two new signings, but after a bit of digging and research it would seem they are both two football players which are highly regarded on the other side of the border. Goalkeeper Scott Brown spent the best part of nine years at Cheltenham Town making 249 appearances for the club, an impressive feat in itself. The battle for the place in between the sticks this season should be more of a battle now compared to last season and Langfield will have to be on top form just as he was last term to keep his place. Competition is what you need though as it brings out better performances in goalkeepers as they are aware they need to continue performing at a high level to retain their starting place.

Defender Ash Taylor has made just under 200 appearances for Tranmere Rovers and the player is still only 23 years of age. With that, it will bring experience and due to his young age he will still be learning and progressing as a player and the guy seems to be one of the most highly regarded defenders in the division making it even more of a success McInnes was able to tie him down. He is predominantly a centre back and is probably the answer to Russell Anderson's last season in football, as he will probably look to take on the mantle in central defence once Russell retires from football. A team for the future is what McInnes is building whilst delivering success short term as well. If McInnes wants these players who can really doubt him and we can only put our trust in him that these guys are top quality players.

Surely now the focus has to be targeting a striker and a winger, yet we will have to wait and see.

Dons Tie Down Logan
After an extremely successful spell at Aberdeen on loan from Brentford, Shaleum Logan has signed a pre-contract with the Dons that will see him officially become a Don at the start of July.

Logan showed the Premiership punters has abilities during his loan spell at Aberdeen and it is fair to say next to everybody was nodding in content at the player McInnes had managed to land. Logan went out to impress and that he did as most of the Red Army took to him instantly especially as his debut was against St Johnstone in the league cup semi-final at Tynecastle.

Logan will sign a permanent two year deal at the start of July and will be enrolled in the squad before the Dons embark on their European journey.

New Contracts For Youngsters And First Team
Three new contracts have been agreed within the Aberdeen first team while the Under 20's also see some of their players extend their time at Aberdeen. It is good to see McInnes is getting things sorted reasonably early as the fans view this as he knows what he is doing and has a clear vision for next season.

Russell Anderson, Barry Robson and Nicky Low have all been offered and signed a one year contract extension. For the first two this may well be and probably will be their last season in football as the veterans are reaching an age where it is hard to maintain such high levels of fitness that the modern day game demands. This is excellent news as both Anderson and Robson were supreme throughout the majority of last season, although Barry did look rather jaded come the end of the season. It is good news for the fans that the experienced players have signed on again and will offer that stability in the side once more throughout the course of the 2014-15 season.

Nicky Low came on leaps and bounds last season and was no less than brilliant when called upon, especially having the bottle to take a penalty in the League Cup final. It is good that he has signed on as he has the potential to be a great player and playing alongside men like Robson and Anderson will only aid his future career.

Several youngsters have also signed contract deals in the way of Kieran Gibbons. Michael Rose, Marcus Campanile and Craig Murray. All four of them have signed a new one year deal seeing them at Pittodrie until the end of next season.

Summer Shake Up Begins
Derek McInnes and Aberdeen have already begun to take decisions upon them for the start of next season and due to this several changes around the club are being put into place. As ever at this time of year hard decisions have to be made regarding the team for the coming season and with that some people will be let down and let go.

The first team have experienced several changes obviously with Alan Tate returning to Swansea, yet three players have not been offered new deals at Pittodrie. Nicky Weaver, Josh Magennis and Scott Vernon will be on their way out in the coming days after it was announced that the manager was not going to be offering them a new contract. It is almost sad to see both the strikers go after such a long time at the club as they have emerged as almost cult heroes during their time here. Vernon contributed 43 goals to Aberdeen during his time at the club and i am sure he will be missed more as a character than a player as he did suffer some criticism in his time, rightfully or wrongfully deserved? I will leave that up to you. Magennis has also been another player who has been a bigger character than he has been a player and as each season has passed has never really come into his own, as far as goal scoring is concerned. The probable idea for Josh to go on loan to St Mirren was to prove how he is capable of competing at this level, but he did not score a single goal with his spell at the Buddies and that will have been the reason he has not been given a new deal.

Weaver made only two appearances for the Dons, one of those being as a substitute against Celtic. Nobody can doubt what a good keeper he is as you only have to look at his career but he was never really given a chance in an Aberdeen shirt, purely down to Langfield's superb form this season.

I personally as an Aberdeen fan wish all three of the above players well in their future careers and hope Magennis and Vernon can find a good club that they can settle into and score goals regularly.

The youth team have been experiencing some changes also with five players on their way out of the club including their coach Neil Cooper. Craig Burns, Scott Rumsby, Stephen O'Neill, Mathew McMahon and Alan O'Sullivan will all be departing from Pittodrie. Hopefully all goes well for them in their future careers. Their coach Neil Cooper will also be leaving Aberdeen and thanks has to go to him for putting in so much time and effort to the youth squad.

It is clear that again McInnes is not mucking about and has cleared room for the arrival of some new faces, maybe, perhaps? We may be seeing some new people arriving into the club sooner rather than later as McInnes will have that early start in Europe on his mind.
