Inverness v Aberdeen - Match Report

Aberdeen failed to pick up a necessary 3 points on saturday to keep in touch with Inverness and Motherwell, and whilst doing so succombed to another defeat by a brutal and confident Invernes side, who are looking to do somthing big this season.

The first half was fairly competitive as both sides fired in shots on goal an defended pretty well. Aberdeen probably edging the best of the play could have been at least 3 nil up by the time Inverness scored. Johnny Hayes saw the ball break to him at the edge of the box, and fired in a long ranged shot that went over Ruguero's bar, not troubling the keeper. Almost minutes later Hayes cut in from wide ride to try and curl an effort in to the far corner, but only hit the turf causing the ball to bobble into the keepers arms. The final chance of the first half fell to Inverness's Dorran who could only balloon the ball over the bar leaving the scoreline at half time 0-0.

The second half however proved to be completely different as Inverness upped the tempo, and the Dons could not cope with the likes of Billy McKay and Andrew Shinnie, players who are currenly in great form. The first chance of the half again fell to Hayes, who teisted and turned in the area to finally get his shot away but was hit straight at the keeper and was batted away for a corner. The deadlock was finally broken by Andrew Shinnie in the 53rd minute as the inform man capitalised on a stumble from captain Anderson and smashed the ball home into the top right hand corner. Aberdeen never really recovered after the goal and it was an Inverness onslaught from there on. A great flick from Ross Draper cut the Dons defence in half and set Billy McKay through who cooly finished into the vorner of the net, much to the despir of Aberden keeper Langfield. To compound the misery for Aberdeen Raven curled in a cross into the six yard box, that was totally missed by Obourne and McKay blasted the ball into the back of the net for his 16th goal of the season. Right at the death Smith the substitute summed up the day for Aberdeen as he blasted a shot from the ege of the box over the bar. A long journey home for the large travelling Dons support.
