As the preparations for the new season are beginning to come together and the transfer news and speculation begins to hot up, all in all things look to be promising at Aberdeen. The 2012/13 season was not one to be remembered for years to come and has to be looked upon as a failure.
McInnes has now come in and has taken firm control of the reigns and seems to be manipulating those very well. McInnes took charge of the team post split and is still unbeaten after five games, despite four of those being draws. McInnes came in and told the board that to succeed better training facilities would need to be put into place. That they did and the players are now benefiting from that.
Even the pitch is getting a massive new look as the current turf is being ripped up and a brand new more sustainable grass will be layed down in time for the new season.
Derek McInnes seems to have a toughness about him that you like to see in a manager. He told eleven players in total that their time at Aberdeen was up and that they had to move on. McInnes wants to build his own squad and doesn't want to work with the remnants of past squads.
New faces have been introduced to the club over the last few weeks, and transfer speculation at Aberdeen is at an all time high. McInnes managed to bring in Willo Flood and Barry Robson, both of which are brilliant acquisitions to the squad. Partly for their playing abilities but their understanding and knowledge of the game is so expansive, hopefully this can rub off onto some of the younger players in the squad and boost them onto bigger and better opportunities.
The overall feeling around the club is positive, from the fans and back room staff. The decision to sign offer Derek McInnes the job as Aberdeen manager seems to have brought the fans and club together once again for the time being as both parties see that the club is now heading in the best possible direction.
