Aberdeen v Hearts Preview

Aberdeen entertain the Jambos at Pittodrie tomorrow as they look for revenge from the last time the two sides met. Aberdeen were undeservedly beaten by a youthful Hearts squad that did show good spirit but never deserved the win. Both teams couldn't be more different in terms of league form coming into the game, Hearts' last win was that against Aberdeen in August meaning they have only won one of their last ten games and currently lie at the bottom of the table. The Dons on the other hand recovered from their blip against Ross County, and have now won three games on the bounce in the league for the first time since 2008. Only four points behind Celtic Aberdeen are the next best thing to a title challenge for the hoops, and will be looking to maintain their position in second place come the end of the weekend.

The last couple of weeks have been huge for Derek McInnes and his red army, a real marker of intent has been laid down with wins away to Motherwell in the cup and a superb hiding of Thistle at Pittodrie. We now know what we can expect from Aberdeen this season. Another semi-final to look forward to and sitting second in the table, things are really looking up around Pittodrie. Let's just hope it can continue. The men in red will be looking to put in a similar shift, like the one they did against Partick Thistle during the week. If the same desire and intent is there, the youthful Jambos shouldn't be a problem for the Dons. McInnes learned this week that defender Clark Robertson will be out for a devastating three months after tearing his cartilage. Magennis, Clark and Craig Murray all remain out for the team from the granite city, everybody else is fit and is in contention for a place in the team. McInnes and Tony Docherty really have their work cut out when it comes to selecting the side as even the boys on the bench could come onto the pitch and do a magnificent job. It really shows the strength and quality that McInnes has brought into the club during the summer.

A rather big crowd is expected for the game on Saturday due to the recent run of excellent results, let us hope the boys can put in another great performance and get Pittodrie bouncing!
