Dons Interest In Goodwillie

Over the past few weeks interest in Blackburn Rovers player David Goodwillie has been hotting up around Pittodrie. McInnes has not made it clear that the striker who was at Dundee United for the first half of the season is his target, but yet has not denied the rumours either.

McInnes told RedTV that if Goodwillie was to join Aberdeen, the Dons certainly wouldn't be paying what United paid for him earlier in the season. The Rovers striker's spell at Dundee United was uninspiring as he never found form, scoring only six goals in 22 appearances.

The speculation over David Goodwillie returning to Scotland was further enhanced when St Johnstone and Tommy Wright stated that they had entered a bid for him. He told media it was now just a waiting game to see where he ends up.

Despite not hitting form in Dundee, McInnes obviously feels that the 24 year old would add something slightly different up front shirking away from the more direct approach that Zola and Vernon currently offer. Both big strikers have not been amongst the goals as much as the Dons manager would have wished this season.

Derek McInnes also said that if there is a player out there that he feels that can improve the squad, there is no doubt they will be looked at and no stone will be left unturned. The manager is showing interest as he thinks Goodwillie is one of these players.
