Aberdeen must have felt rather hard done to when the teams were drawn for the fifth round of the Scottish Cup last year. However despite Celtic being unbeaten so far this season that Dons could not come into this match with any higher confidence. After ultimately sailing through the semi-final, firing four past St Johnstone, Aberdeen are flying high after reaching a cup final for the first time in 14 years. Celtic have been lulled into a false sense of security by the fact that they have not been beaten this season, and they are going to falter at some point in the season, will Saturday be that day?
As before said the Dons will be relishing this game and will be looking for revenge when Celtic cruelly snatched all three points in the last minute earlier in the season at Celtic Park. Aberdeen ran the champions all the way in that game and more than deserved to take something from the match, this proves that we can more than go toe-to-toe with them. Derek McInnes will be without Clark Robertson and Ryan Jack, although Robertson is back running following his injury he suffered at Motherwell earlier in the season. Apart from that it will be the same team that is available to McInnes going into the match that it was last week. New signings Rooney and Logan have settled well, with Rooney on two goals already while Logan slotted in nicely at right back in the semi final. Shaleum Logan looked the part and offers that something different to Aberdeen with the option of him being an attacking full back, something the club has been lacking for years. The Dons' record in cups at Parkhead is a good one as the last time Celtic defeated Aberdeen at home in a cup was 1951. Since then Aberdeen have won twice and drawn twice also.
To win the cup you will need to knock out at some point some of the best teams in it and this is our chance on Saturday!
Prediction: Celtic 2-2 Aberdeen
Celtic v Aberdeen
Sat 8th Feb
Celtic Park
