However some doubt must have been poured into the mind of McInnes following Tuesday evening's victory over Dundee United where the striker picked up a hat-trick (astonishingly his second of the season). Vernon is out of contract in the summer and there doesn't seem to be any urgent movement to renew that contract despite McInnes telling the media he would deal with contract situations next week. Personally I woulld have Vernon over Zola but the problem with that is Zola has a year left on his contract and having both of the target men on the bench I don't think is going to work next season. One of them has to go and unfortunately I see that as being Scott Vernon.
Scott Vernon spoke to the media about the contract situation he finds himself in:
"I don't know what's happening next year, nothing has been said yet"
"The gaffer has got a few decisions to make with the boys who are out of contract and I'm one of them. I will just have to wait and see."
Vernon joined the club in 2010 and has scored a total amount of 43 goals for Aberdeen in all competitions making 157 appearances.
