One of the major improvements that have been made over the course of this summer break is the installation of a cantilever canopy by "Canopies UK" over the disabled section in the south Stand. This new feature now means that disabled visiting supporters will be protected from the elements and shows how Aberdeen strive to make all stadium visitors, regardless of your alliegance, satisfied. The disabled away fans may now be protected from the harsh Aberdonian climate but that does not mean to say they will be protected from witnessing their team receive a drubbing.
This is a vital step for Aberdeen as a club, as they are now setting a precedent, which other clubs around not only Scotland but the whole of the UK, can follow.
The board and especially chairman Stuart Milne, still have every intention of selling Pittodrie and relocating elsewhere to a contemporary stadium, the preferred choice being Loirston. However until that move has been completed the club still have to ensure they take the necessary steps to improving Pittodrie so it can achieve its full potential and meet the needs of supporters.
Visiting disabled supporters can now enjoy a trip to the Granite City where they can feel safe and sheltered from the cold, biting weather that Aberdeen has to offer during the winter months. For a full detailed description of the cantilever canopy now installed in Pittodrie Stadium and for an article on the process please follow the link to Canopies UK's website http://www.canopiesuk.co.uk/blog/canopies-uk-helps-aberdeen-fc-cover-disabled-fans/
