Aberdeen v Motherwell Preview

Another Friday night football match for the Aberdeen fans to get their teeth into tonight as the Dons play host to Motherwell for the first time this season. Both sides come into the match off of the back of horrible defeats, coincidentally both 3-0 defeats. Yet it will be Motherwell who will be the bag of nerves as they arrive in the Granite city as they look to end the rot and win only their third game of the season.

McInnes will know what has to be done to beat Motherwell this evening, but he would also have known how to beat Hamilton, it's a case of implementing the tactics correctly and if the players can play to their full potential. Motherwell have an excellent record at Pittodrie as the last time the Dons scooped all three points against the Steelmen at home was way back in November 2008, a statistic McInnes will want to put to bed.

Russell Anderson is still sidelined for Aberdeen, which is a major blow to the Dons back line who have been leaking goals since he was substituted off injured at St Johnstone in August. His replacement, Ash Taylor has come under the microscope due to some of his performances of late but I believe we can only judge him properly when he has had time to settle and gel with his fellow defenders.

The pairing of the two sides ahs the making for a good match but Motherwell’s extremely poor run is going to play a part due to the confidence factor of the travelling team and it will be extremely disappointing if Aberdeen fail to win all three points tonight. We have got to take advantages of teams when they are in that frame of mind and not give them any slither of hope to hang onto that they can take something out of the game.

If we are going to challenge for second again this year, which I firmly believe we will, then I think this match is a must win.
