Hibernian v Aberdeen Match Report

Bottom six football lived up to it's expectations last night. Dire, woefull and shocking all words that would be well suited to describing the horriffic encounter between the two teams. The game created almost nothing in the way of clear cut chances, and the quality of football that was on show was awfull. Aberdeen, despite having a new manager come in to take over proceedings at Pittodrie looked dispondant after missing out on the last top six spot after losing to Dundee Utd. It was a shame that Derek McInnes' start as Aberdeen manager could not of got off to a better start. This game was not one for the history books and should just be forgotten.

The first half was a sprinke of chances for Leigh Griffiths his first an optimistic over head kick just inside the box that went well wide of the Aberden goal. His second chance however was more dangerous. A long headed ball from McPake evaded the whole of the Aberdeen defence and Griffiths charged down on goal and cracked the shot at Langfield, but the Dons keeper was equal to it. Once again another long ball found Griffiths unmarked out wide, his touch was a poor one as he looked to get the shot away, and in the end the angle became to tight and he lashed the shot over the bar into the travelling Aberdeen support. A long range shot from Kevin Thomson that was closer to the corner flag than the goal concluded the half.

Another chance for Hibs followed the half time break. Griffiths again found himself a pocket of space ide left. He dragged two Aberdeen defenders over leaving a massive gap in the middle of the defence. Griffiths played the ball across the face of goal, Danny Handling came charging in but his shot was tame and Langfield did well to gather. Just after Doyle struck the post with a curling shot after neat play down the flanks by the Hibs team. Finally after 66 minutes Aberdeen mustered a shot on goal. That came through Johnny Hayes who was about 25 yards out and Ben Williams caught th ball mid air. The shot was sarcastically cheered by some of the Aberdeen fans, who realised the game had turned into more of a joke than a decent game of football. The only quality of the match came from Leigh Griffiths who thundered a dipping efoort in on goal from about 35 yards out. Jamie Langfield expertly saved the shot at full stretch, allowing his team to hang on for a point.

Another 0-0 scoreline for the Dons, a scoreline that the men from the granite city are becoming all to familiar with this season. McInnes will be looking to rectify that and after last night's performance hopefully a whole load of other things too.
