Falkirk v Aberdeen League Cup Preview

Aberdeen will be looking to progress into the next round of the League Cup on Wednesday and continue their recent run of good results. Since going down to Hearts at Tynecastle (Which should never have resulted in a Hearts victory) Aberdeen have gone four games unbeaten and will be looking to make it five.

The Dons however will be wary of what lower league opposition can do as Alloa Athletic in the last round took Aberdeen all the way to penalties. There, surprisingly the Dons kept their cool and progressed into the next round. It would be fare to say this will be a tougher test for Derek McInnes, who is still unsure whether Barry Robson and Niall McGinn will feature in the squad. The pair were touch and go to make it into the squad on Saturday against Inverness an it appears this is the same situation. McInnes will make a last minute call whether the pair will travel down to the central belt with the team or not. Apart from that there are no fresh injury concerns for the Reds to worry about. Aberdeen will take heart from the fact they currently hold the record over Falkirk for their biggest ever League Cup defeat, which was 0-8 on 11 August 1962.

Falkirk currently sit third in the Scottish Championship and corrected a poor run of form on Saturday after beating Dundee 3-1. Falkirk have only a single injury issue and that is Ollie Durojaiy who will miss the clash between the two sides as he is suffering from a broken bone in his foot.

"We have not ruled Barry or Niall out. They are desperate to be involved and we will give them every opportunity to be involved.

"But we have to be mindful that we do not want to risk them and then lose them for further games."
However, Russell Anderson, Chris Clark and Willo Flood are all definitely absent.

Derek McInnes and Aberdeen were also down at Forfar training yesterday as he said "They have exactly the same artificial surface".
