Dons Appoint Head Of Sport Science

You could say today is a small bit in history for Aberdeen FC, as they appoint their first ever head of sports science. Graham Kirk joins the Dons to take up that role and knows McInnes well after working with him and Tony Docherty. The move is supported by local energy services company ROVOP.

Derek McInnes believes 100% that Graham will be able to help the players prepare for matches more efficiently and will enhance the squad's ability as a whole."I'm delighted to have Graham on board and, having worked with him previously, I know exactly what I'm going to get which is namely a great addition to the staff.
"The players will enjoy working with him and it's fantastic that the Directors here share my belief as to how important this side of the game is. Also, a huge thanks to Steven Gray and his team at ROVOP for their contribution, which is hugely appreciated and we look forward to a healthy working partnership going forward."

The board backed the appointment as they feel that it will help the club in the long run and prevent so many injuries that Aberdeen have had a bit of a history with over the past couple of seasons.

Graham Kirk did not hesitate in accepting the job offer when the Aberdeen manager approached him - "Aberdeen is a massive club and having worked with Derek and Tony at St. Johnstone, it was an easy decision to make. It's very early days but everyone at the Club has made me feel really welcome and there is a tremendously positive atmosphere throughout the place."
