Milne, chairman of the club, told Dons shareholders while speaking at the clubs AGM on Monday that Loirston Loch near Cove is still the preferred location for a move. The reason that the club initially wanted to move away from Pittodrie was due to the costs. The famous but old stadium is costing far more much money to the club simply in the upkeep of it than they would like, in fact it would probably cost about the same to build a new all seater stadium than to keep "Todders" running. As much as the stadium is loved by all and has so many memories, it is just not financially viable for the club to stay there.
Milne spoke to RedTV on the subject -
“We still see Loirston as the best location for the new stadium and in recent months we have re-opened discussions with Aberdeen City Council about trying to reach an agreement on the purchase of the land which would allow us to go ahead with our plans.
“We have looked at other sites and there are other venues out there but we have invested a lot of money into the Loirston site and we still firmly believe it is the best option.”
