Aberdeen and Derek McInnes will be looking to get the league form back on track after losing their last two games by three goals to nil. However that will prove to be a hard task as St Johnstone are more than a formidable force at home this season losing only once in 2013 thus far. A tough fixture awaits Aberdeen and the Red Army in Perth.
Aberdeen have only one major injury concern and that is Jonny Hayes. He will be unlikely to feature for the Dons against the Saints as he is still recovering. That did not stop Aberdeen getting the win though without him last week in Glasgow. Flood and Robertson are still both missing from the team sheet but are expected to be back sooner rather than later. A plus is that Magennis is expected to shrug off a groin strain to make the trip down the road on Saturday.
Since getting into a good position in the league sitting in second, Aberdeen have lingered around abouts and have failed to push on, allowing the teams that they were pulling away from to catch up. Currently sitting in fifth, Aberdeen will be looking to defeat the Saints which could possibly then push them back up into third place behind Inverness. There seems to be a theme to this season, despite us still in amongst the fight for second, we seem to be having a problem with beating the teams that we are expected to. Two defeats to Hearts, a defeat to Ross County where the side largely underperformed and an okay draw against St Mirren. This does not seem to be good enough but has been made up for the fact that McInnes' is getting his tactics right against the teams around us. We have beaten every team that sit above us and somehow they sit above us? Dundee Utd, Motherwell and Inverness have all fallen to the sword against the men in red this season but have been consistent elsewhere. The Dons will be looking to go one better on Saturday than last time out against St Johnstone and emerge victorious.
The Saints have a few injury woes for themselves. Murray Davidson is still struggling whilst their new signing Lee Croft is still short of match fitness. Steven Anderson and former Don Steven MacLean are out also.
