Dundee United have not won
at Pittodrie since 2009, and Derek McInnes will be looking
to keep that record in tact by the end of today. McInnes has done a
brilliant job of keeping the Dundee men in check when both sides have come up
against each other this season, with the Dons prevailing on both occasions,
however only by a single goal. A win for Aberdeen will keep up our charge for
second spot whilst pulling further away from Dundee United however, flip that
result and Dundee United could possibly come into the mix for that second place
finish.
Following the draw to County
midweek, the Dons will want to get back to winning ways as every point is
crucial at this stage in the campaign as Motherwell will not go away
and keep knocking at the door to try and hop into second place.
Peter Pawlett, much to the delight of Aberdeen fans, should return to the
squad for the match while Andrew Considine is suspended due to his
red card he received in Dingwall on Tuesday. The defence
should not be a problem to cover though as Anderson will come back into the
side in place of Considine and should put in as ever, a tremendous
shift. The return of Pawlett could be pivotal in the game as we have
greatly missed the centre to front attacking flair "Peter Palwett Baby"
gives us.
Dundee United will have to try and
surf the red sea today without Ciftci and Robertson, two
of United's most key and influential players. It will be
interesting to see how they cope without those two men. With the removal of
both men, it could negate some of the visitor’s physical presence in the game
which could help Aberdeen, allowing the Dons to control the aerial battles.
Another bumper crowd is expected for the match with several areas of the ground being sold out and the RDS lower with not a seat to be had. The recent results are obviously attracting the supporters back (which they should) which is good to see and the game today will provide an excellent atmosphere. Remember, if you want to create some noise today, head to the RDS upper where Voice and Colour will be grouped to try and raise the roof.
