Celtic v Aberdeen Preview

Will Aberdeen beat Celtic for the third time in a row for the first time since some guy called Alex Ferguson was in charge? Why shouldn't they? We have already proved this season we are more than capable of putting up a fight against the Hoops and even taking the scalp. The game is far more important for us as we are still fighting to secure second place. With a win a Parkhead and if Motherwell lose we will have guaranteed our position in second. Obviously any points against Celtic are a bonus but McInnes will be hoping to take at least a point back north to the granite city.

The Dons will be without defender Andrew Considine for the trip to Glasgow as he suffered an injury in training and will now unfortunately miss the remainder of the season. Injury doubts for the game include both Joe Shaughnessy and Peter Pawlett however the latter us expected to be fit. Pawlett slightly tweaked his hamstring during the week but it will be no great cause for concern and the 23 year-old is expected to start.

Derek McInnes holds a 50% win percentage over the champions this season emerging victorious on two of the four occasions the sides have met this season. A statistic like that against Celtic is one to be commended by everyone as it is no mean feat defeating Celtic. Especially in the league. Celtic will have a sense of wanting to gain revenge and will possibly up their game for the visit of the Dons, which may or may not work in our favour. If the players put in a performance similar to the past two games we will be in with a real shout of taking something from the game. Play our counter attacking football and being able to soak up the pressure from Celtic will be the key to victory on Saturday afternoon.

It has been a memorable season for victories against Celtic home and away and also we only lifted our first trophy in 19 years at Parkhead (or ParkRed should I say) this season. Can the players make it another one of those days? Yes, why not.
