Derek McInnes and Jonny Hayes Both Pick Up Awards

It was a successful night for Aberdeen Football Club at the PFA Scotland awards on Sunday evening with the Dons or more importantly McInnes scooping the manager of the year award while Hayes picked up goal of the season for his strike v Celtic in the 2-1 win at Pittodrie. It really says something for the direction the club are moving - if that is not already evident by the league position - by the manager picking the manager of the year award.

Derek McInnes picked up the glass trophy for his award ahead of the three other contenders in the way of Neil Lennon, Stuart McCall and Tommy Wright, and fairly so. McInnes guided us to our first trophy for 19 years giving Dons fans all over the world that sweet taste of success once more, a taste that the Red Army have been craving for years. A cup, reached the semi-final of the other, second in the league and made some tremendous signings. Also you can't forget dumping Celtic out of the Scottish Cup and ending their unbeaten league record. Could the award really have gone to anyone else? We think not.

Also you have to take into consideration that this is only his first season in charge of Aberdeen Football Club and he has done a sensational job of turning what literally was a bottom six team into a second placed team which are now a force to be reckoned with in Scottish football once more.

Jonny Hayes also fittingly so, just to rub it in Neil Lennon's face, picked up goal of the season for his wonder strike that flew past Fraser Forster in the victory over the Hoops at Pittodrie. Oh.. and also it ended the run of Forster's clean sheet record. We appear to be one of only a few teams that can score against Celtic this season and the only team to beat them apart from well Morton *Chuckles*.
