Calvin Zola has had his contract terminated by the club and it would appear Derek McInnes does not suffer fools lightly. For the club this decision is probably for the better as Zola never really, apart from his name, lived up to the expectations, not only from the fans but from McInnes too.
Calvin made 13 appearances for the Dons scoring only 3 goals, which was a feeble effort at his promised 18 or so goals he promised when he joined from Burton Albion at the start of last season. This stat alone simply proves that the striker was not good enough and if it wasn't for the depth of our squad we would have struggled to find the net last year. It is probably for the best that we parted company with Zola for him and the club as he will not get a game with Rooney now at the club who offers a greater attacking threat.
Despite his lack of goal scoring prowess we wish Zola all the best for his future career.
