Goodie... Goodwillie Joins Dons

Aberdeen revealed this morning that David Goodwillie had joined the Dons on a one year deal that will see him at Pittodrie until the end of the 2014/15 season. Speculation over the arrival of the former Blackburn Rovers player had began to accumulate late last week and those rumours have grown until it seemed it was a done deal to bring the Stirling born boy to the Granite City, which it now is.

A good signing for Aberdeen? Or is it one that could fall flat on its face? The 25 year-old does have a bit of a reputation as a bit of a football bad-boy, however if McInnes feels that he will take with him to Aberdeen the traits he has shown over the past few years, would he really have considered the striker coming on board at Pittodrie. He does have a pockmarked history filled with controversy but this could be a new beginning for the man so as the saying goes, let bygones be bygones.

At the end of the day does his history really matter if he has turned a new page in his life and is regularly scoring goals in a red and white shirt. No, not really is the answer to that. If Aberdeen fans do not warm to him now then surely they will later,  that's only if the striker shows he has changed his ways and is willing to get his head down, work and part of something special at Aberdeen Football Club.

Goodwillie now has the chance to settle down and be taken in under the guidance of Derek McInnes and Tony Docherty and become a better player as a result. This is a brilliant opportunity for him to show what he is all about on the park, instead off of it.

If I say so myself the squad for this season is looking rather frighteningly magnificent!
