As the season draws to a close McInnes is still assessing the squad he has to work with. These last 180 minutes of football could decide certain players futures at Aberdeen and McInnes has set them the challenge of securing their own contracts.
The venue and team that the Dons are playing on Saturday 11th May (Date sound familiar?) will be extremely different to that 30 years ago on that date. St Mirren park isn't quite the Ullevi stadium neither are St Real Madrid, however Aberdeen's pride is at stake and it should be a match the Dons should expect to win.
Fallon and Pawlett will be suspended for this match due to Fallon's red card and Pawlett's retrospective ban for diving. The rest of the team however will be available for Saturday. Aberdeen are still unbeaten against St Mirren this season with two draws and a win.
St Mirren have struggled in the league ever since their cup victory and faced the threat of relegation only until last week when Dundee were relegated. So they are not in the best shape or form.
