Jamie Langfield and Jonny Hayes have put pen to paper to secure a deal, seeing them stay at the club until the summer of 2016. Peter Pawlett was the other man who signed on and has made sure he is t the club at least until the conclusion of the 2016/17 season. The positive vibes are flowing out of Pittodrie at the moment with Ryan Jack and Reynolds also secured on long term deals, McInnes is finally starting to build and keep together an extremely impressive squad! With Langfield signing on until 2016 it means he will have been at the club 10 years as he joined the Dons way back in 2005. A testimonial match will need to be held for the ever loyal keeper.
What the players said:
Jamie Langfield:
"I am delighted. I am delighted with the way things
have been going on the park this season and I was delighted when the manager
came to me and asked if I would consider staying. It was a great feeling.
"To pledge my future to AFC is a massive thing for me.
I am really looking forward to the next two and a half years. Hopefully I will
still have a few years left in me after that as well as many keepers are now
playing into their late thirties.
"Normally these things drag on a bit and you have to
wait to the end of the season which creates a lot of uncertainty but the
manager approached the three of us and everything was sorted out in a very
short space of time.
"It is a massive weight of my mind and I can now just
concentrate on my football.
"We all believe in what the manager and coaching staff
are doing here."
"I am very pleased. I am really enjoying my football at
the moment and it is great I am going to be here for another three years. I
have been with the club since I was eight years old. This is the club that I
know and I really enjoy being here. I know from speaking to other players how
good a club this is. It is a great place to be at the moment and there is a
really good atmosphere.
"I feel I have been doing ok this season and hopefully
that will continue. I have to stay fit and keep my confidence going and keep
putting in performances.
"I always felt within myself that I had the ability, it
was just a matter of getting a chance to show it. My confidence was also low
but I have started building it up thanks to the Manager and Tony. They take me
a side and speak to me and we spend time watching videos of me in action. I
really also enjoy the training and I feel fit and I am sharp, that is very
important for my game."
Jonny Hayes:
"As soon as the gaffer spoke to me I was happy to sign.
I had not really given it much thought and the meeting with the gaffer came out
of the blue. I can now just crack on with my football and not be worrying in
three of four months time about whether I would be getting a new contract.
"The manager has come in and has put an emphasis on
hard work and all the boys have bought into it. We know it is a long term plan
which is still a work in progress.
"I settled in off the park last season but maybe did
not put too much emphasis on my own game. Maybe I tried a little bit too hard
last season. This season we have Peter, Cammy has done well when he has come
in, and there is Greg and Niall so I do not feel that I am on my own. All those
players can win games for you. It is a weight of my shoulders to have so many
players round about me playing well and that has helped my own game.
