Derek McInnes has proved his ambitions for the rest of the season this week by bringing in striker Adam Rooney. This new signing will aid the Dons in the battle for second which they are fighting on Saturday as the team travel to Motherwell. Both teams have been on a good run of form recently until last week when both were defeated. A victory for Aberdeen will see them pull three points clear of their closest challengers for second, making this a pivotal game.
Aberdeen will certainly be bolstered by the arrival of Rooney, who does go straight into the squad for the weekends game. Low returning from suspension will be the only change to the Dons side apart from Rooney. Robertson still remains sidelined by the knee injury he sustained at Fir Park earlier in the season. McInnes will be uplifted from the most two recent trips to Motherwell with the Dons, suffering early set backs to come into the game and win. Although Aberdeen have only beaten the Steelmen once in the last fifteen meetings in the league, McInnes will not look at this as a stumbling block by any means. It is gauranteed to be a good performance from Aberdeen however it will need to be that little bit extra to come out on top.
Motherwell still remain without Ramsden, keeper Hollis and Erwin. They will look to get back to winning ways from a 3-0 defeat to Celtic last week. McCall will take heart from the fact Motherwell have already beaten the Dons this season.
Prediction: Motherwell 1-2 Aberdeen
Motherwell v Aberdeen
Sat 25th January 2014
