"ROONEY "ROONEY" Will Be The Chants As The Striker Joins Aberdeen

Aberdeen have today confirmed that striker Adam Rooney has joined the club on a two and a half year contract. That will see the player in the granite city until the summer of 2016. The 25 year old striker is being put straight into the squad for the trip down to Motherwell on Saturday in the second place battle.

Before joining the Dons Rooney was at Oldham Athletic, where things never really worked out for him scoring seven goals in 33 appearances - a third of them as a substitute. Despite the negatives Rooney has proven before that he is more than capable of finding the net, as during his spell at highlanders Inverness CT, he scored over 50 goals in three years.

McInnes was in search of a striker as goals for the front men have more than rather dried up for the likes of Vernon and Zola. Goodwillie was a target but a mixture of reasons such as funds and th player being cup tied forced McInnes to look elsewhere. Adam Rooney was his answer, and he will add a bit of diversity going forward as he is unlike previous hit men the Dons have acquired over the last few years. The manager obviously believes that the former Caley player is the man for the jobs as McInnes does not suffer fools gladly.

The new signing has been allocated the number 17 shirt in Aberdeen colours. Personally he believes this is the right move for him as it is a new challenge and acknowledges the fact the Dons have been going strong so far this season. If Rooney is looking to get his career back on track after a few disappointments down south then Aberdeen is certainly the place for him.
