McInnes And Rooney Deservedly Scoop Monthly Award

After the euphoria of Sunday's league cup final success over Inverness, the good news continues to flow out of Pittodrie as the SPFL announced today that Derek McInnes was awarded February's manager of the month, while January signing Adam Rooney picked up the Player of the month.

McInnes guided the Dons to four wins out of five in February progressing in all three competitions. On the first day of the month McInnes led his team out to a packed Tynecastle where he saw his team demolish St Johnstone to once again get Aberdeen into a cup final. On that day his tactics were spot on. The Dons fans were given another day to remember when Aberdeen faced Celtic in the Scottish Cup at Parkhead. Goals from Pawlett and Anderson helped the team knock out the holders and favourites for the competition, then taking on that title of favourites for themselves. It has been a month to remember for the Red Army and McInnes which has been topped off with him receiving his award.

Rooney has been different classs since joining our north east club and all credit to McInnes for capturing him in the January transfer window. The striker has played a key role in the recent success the Dons have been experiencing, as he has scored six goals already and netted the winning penalty in the league cup final. Doesn't really get much better in terms of making an impact does it. For both men it is a great acknowledgement to their efforts so far and hopefully that continues!
