McInnes Receives Nomination

The PFA manager of the year was announced this afternoon by Scotland boss and former Aberdeen midfielder, Gordon Strachan. Now the four nominees are: Our one and only Derek McInnes alongside Stuart McCall, Neil Lennon  and Tommy Wright. All justly nominated for their efforts and achievements over the season. However I would question the inclusion of Lennon. A torrid campaign for the Northern Irishman, winning only the league, which is a formality for Celtic. Suppose there had to be an old firm name in there somewhere.

Strachan refused to comment when asked on who he had voted for as his manager of the year, but we all know it was McInnes...

The front runner out of the pack, at the moment and I repeat "at the moment" is Derek McInnes obviously. Guiding Aberdeen out of the murky waters of the bottom six to the dizzy heights of second place is an achievement in itself but to give the Dons a taste of cup glory once more will be what he will be remembered for this season. It has been a long wait for the Red Army who have endured 19 years of pain to wait for the chance to see their team lift a trophy once more and they have the manager to thank for ending that wait. Also the style of football that Derek has imposed upon the team has been a breath of fresh air for many Dons fans as the ball for the majority of games is on the deck and in possession of a man with a red shirt on. We are once more dominating games and cutting teams open, sometimes with ease which is a great sight to see. McInnes as he promised at the beginning of the season has made Pittodrie a fortress once more losing only four games at home all season which is pretty impressive. With European football almost secured it has been a tremendous first season for McInnes and who can take that away from him? Nobody is the answer to that well maybe there is possibly one man who could wrestle the manager of the year award away from him.

That guy is Tommy Wright who has had another spiffing season at the helm of St Johnstone. A good European run from the Perth side, securing top six football once more and reaching the clubs first ever cup final (says through clenched teeth). What a season from the small club in Perth.

The winner of the award is nominated on Sunday 27th of April... "Ooooo Derek McInness, Ooooo Derek McInnes!"
