Aberdeen Begin To Hit Their Stride While Hitting Three At Dundee

Let's begin with a plain, simple statistic. Aberdeen's second goal on Saturday at Dens, confirmed for the first time since 1996 the Dons have scored 2 or more goals in 5 consecutive matches. Now that may be surprising for some but these figures show that the issue of scoring goals has been a major one for the club:

Goals Scored:
2012/13 - 41
2011/12 - 36
2010/11 - 39

With the net rippling 18 times already this season, the Dons are already half way to matching their target of the 2011/12 season with only nine games played. This has been the downfall for Aberdeen in many a year gone by, but with the recent form the team are showing, it looks as if this problem may well have been completely rectified!

Aberdeen's performance at Dundee was a mixed bag, but it certainly was a brilliant attacking display with Goodwillie grabbing the winner much to the delight of the terrific Red Army, who once gain turned out in their thousands.

Three brilliant goals, albeit one being an own goal, were enough for Aberdeen to claim all three points to pile the pressure on league leaders Hamilton... (Shakes head in disbelief). It seems to very much a case of score more goals than we concede at the moment as it has to be said the defence has been leaking goals as of late. It may be a negative slant on a positive mood at the moment but it is an issue that needs to be addressed. If McInnes manages to make the defence as tight as it was last season whilst allowing the goals to flow it could be an even bigger success of a season this year compared to last year.

But at the end of the day, if we are scoring goals, winning points and driving home happy from away days... there really isn't too much to complain about! Long may it continue!
